Administrative Policy Manual Procedures

Procedures

A. Formatting:

All county policies shall adhere to the Administrative Policy format (Attachment 1) and numbering system (Attachment 2).

B. Submissions:

  • (a) New and revised policies must be submitted by the department director to the Deputy County Executive of Administrative Services for review. (b) Policies must be submitted with approval of the department’s assigned Deputy County Executive, unless that deputy is the Administrative Services Deputy.
  • (c) Submissions must include a completed County Administrative Policy Cover Page (Attachment 3).
  • (d) All submissions must also include, if applicable, the procedures that operationalize the policy. These procedures must be included as Attachment 1 to the policy and use the Procedures template provided here as Attachment 4.     

C. CEO Office Review and Approval:

  • a) At the direction of the Deputy County Executive of Administrative Services, the County Executive Office will review the policy for completeness, correctness, and that it adheres to the Administrative Policy format and numbering system.
  • (b) Upon approval of the Deputy County Executive of Administrative Services, the County Executive will review and approve the policy.
  • (c) Once approved, the policy will be placed in the Administrative Services Policy Manual.

D. Notice:

All county departments will be notified by the County Executive’s Office of any approved new or revised policies.

It is the responsibility of department directors to appropriately notify impacted staff of any approved new or revised administrative policies.
